For the 2019 season, the Municipality of San Quirico d’Orcia has chosen the artist Davide Dall’Osso as the protagonist of the Bath of Santa Caterina in Bagno Vignoni for the theme The Landscapes of Wellness.
The initiative dedicated to contemporary art in 2019 will be interpreted by the floating works of Davide Dall’Osso on the waters of the Santa Caterina basin, also known as Piazza delle Sorgenti.
The artist Davide Dall’Osso has measured himself with different forms of art, finding his form of expression and exploration in sculpture, with experiences also of an international nature both for collaborations and exhibitions.
For Davide Dall’Osso every installation is a dramaturgy. With his sculptural characters, he writes a new text made of evocative images. The characters enter the scene one after the other inside
of his “secret garden” which today is represented by the tub of Santa Caterina in Bagno Vignoni.
Why “secret garden”? The secret garden is for Dall’Osso that secluded open place that exists in each of us and that sometimes remains secret even from ourselves; that place of freedom, that place perhaps that we discovered as children as in the book “the secret garden”. The children ventured into this garden and rediscovered their identity, their strength and their human being through nature. Dall’Osso has somehow opened his secret garden from which these dancing figures have emerged, these flowers that dance above the water, whose reflection becomes a flower that has blossomed on the water like water lilies; the idea is that they dance, tell and sing both day and night, when they are immersed in the light. At daybreak, the dawn mist, which rises from the hot waters of the thermal bath, joins the reverberation of the water and together with the reflections, the figures seem to dance, skimming the surface.
Water as a liquid element, like the liquid society that is now in search of human freedom, an idea of freedom as an identity, where everyone can express themselves to the fullest of their possibilities.
For Dall’Osso freedom is an essential theme of his spiritual research, the freedom to be able to be oneself and to be able to express one’s potential to the fullest; The largest captivity to which a
Human being today can be condemned is that of not being able to have a land, where he can express what he deeply knows he is.
The last two presences that “enter the scene” in the installation are the “Duellants”. Two centaurs, two hybrid figures, two liquid figures who have defined themselves and who have met; self-defined individually, not as a pair. They met in this moment, they are studying each other, they are confronting each other like two duelists in their love ritual. The “Duellants” close the door to this secret garden of Bagno Vignoni, suggesting that perhaps they have not yet found their land and that they will continue to search for a place to express what they deeply know they are.
