JUNE 3, 2023 | VIA DI CITTA’ 49 SIENA

Inauguration of the new exhibition venue in Siena in via di Città, 49

VERNISSAGE: Saturday 3 June at 5pm.

The historic Biale Cerruti Art Gallery, founded in Siena in 1997 by Irina Biale and Edgardo Cerruti and active since 2003 in via di Città 111, changes location and becomes Violetti Arte Contemporanea.

The director Elena Violetti, daughter of the founder, through this choice, wants to write a new chapter in the history of the Gallery.

Remaining faithful to the initial program, strengthened by the path traced and the identity created during the 25 years of activity, Violetti Arte Contemporanea wants to promote international contemporary art, encouraging new forms of cultural exchange, with a view to continuous evolution.

The projects that will be implemented will be projected towards the creation of an open dialogue on current events, on society and on the role of the individual within it.

The Gallery’s prerogative is to work to encourage a debate of an aesthetic nature, to reconnect art to life, to promote awareness of the contemporary, defending peculiarities and freedom of expression.

The new venue of the Art Gallery, located in the main street of Siena, between Piazza del Campo and the Duomo, a few steps from the Accademia Chigiana, will not be the iconic White cube but, respecting the history and tradition of the city, will become an integral part of the process aesthetics of the Gallery. The new exhibition space, hosting exhibitions with a site-specific approach and a careful curatorial project, will be a dynamic and transversal place, open to experimentation and research, with the desire to become the basis for the development of new ideas in the panorama of contemporary art.

The Gallery’s role is to represent, support and promote the work of emerging Italian and international artists alongside well-known names, creating a vital dialogue of ideas.

The inaugural event will present the works of artists with whom the gallery has consolidated a ten-year relationship together with paintings and sculptures by new talents and established artists including Antonella Cinelli, Davide Dall’Osso, Gavin Rain, Helidon Xhixha, Samuele Ventanni, Eltjon Valle.

With a thought always turned to the path traced and a conscious look towards the future, Violetti Arte Contemporanea is ready to write a new page in its journey.
